To keep your orchid thriving and blooming for as long as possible, follow these simple care steps:
- Watering: Water once a week by placing 2–3 ice cubes on the soil or running a small amount of lukewarm water through the pot. Never let the roots sit in standing water — this is the most common cause of orchid decline.
- Light: Place in a bright spot away from direct sunlight. An east or west-facing windowsill is ideal. Avoid south-facing windows where harsh rays can scorch the leaves.
- Temperature: Orchids prefer a consistent temperature between 18–25°C. Keep away from cold draughts, radiators, and air conditioning units.
- Humidity: Orchids love moisture in the air. Misting the leaves lightly or placing the pot on a tray of pebbles with water will help, especially in winter.
- Feeding: Apply a specialist orchid fertiliser once a month during the blooming period to support longevity.
- Reblooming: Once all blooms have dropped, cut the stem just above the lowest node. With patience and the right care, your orchid will rebloom — often within 3–6 months.
With the right conditions, your orchid can be a living part of your home for years to come.
- How long will my orchid bloom?
With proper care, your orchid will bloom for 3 months or more. After the blooms drop, the plant can be encouraged to rebloom with the right conditions — making it a long-term living gift rather than a one-time display. - Do I need to repot my orchid when it arrives?
No. Your orchid arrives ready to display. We recommend leaving it undisturbed for at least the first few weeks to allow it to settle into its new environment. - Why are the roots visible or growing outside the pot?
This is completely normal. Orchid roots are naturally aerial and often grow outward. Healthy roots are firm and green or silver — this is a sign your plant is thriving, not struggling. - Are delivery options limited for orchids?
Yes. Due to the delicate nature of our orchids, we deliver within London only, via our own in-house drivers. This ensures your plant arrives in perfect condition — no couriers, no risk. - What if a bloom drops during or after delivery?
Occasional bloom drop can happen due to temperature changes during transit. This is a natural stress response and does not affect the health of the plant. It will continue to bloom from the remaining buds.
